Hibernate or iBatis or both ? Which is better? Which one to use and when? These are the few questions that continuously get asked in most of forums. What’s really difference between two and really more importantly when should I use one over the other. Its pretty interesting question because there are major differences between iBatis and Hibernate. Within in the java persistence there is no one size, fits all solution. So, in this case Hibernate which is a de facto standard is used in lot of places. Le... (more)

Inversion of Control :Dependency injection Beans define their dependencies through constructor arguments or properties. The container provides the injection at runtime.Decouples object creators and locators from application logic Easy to maintain and reuse.Testing is easier. Inversion of Control has already been referred to as Dependency Injection. The basic principle is that beans define their dependencies (i.e. the other objects they work with) only through constructor arguments or properties. Then, it... (more)

Scroll Fix Header JQuery. Facebook Header Scroll Fixed in JQuery

While doing some UI changes of a website, we had to implement a FIX header which remains fix on top of screen while scrolling. Facebook has a similar header which remains on top of content. Now for this, there are number of jQuery plugins available out there! But in our case we weren’t allowed to add any new plugins to the technology stack of application (I know it sucks ). So here is a small JQuery based solution to make a DIV of header fixed on top of the screen while scrolling. (more)

With the recent release of Primefaces 3.0, JSF finally reaches an unprecedent level of maturity and utility that puts it face to face with other popular Rich Internet Applications (RIA) options, such as Google Web Toolkit (GWT), ExtJS, Vaadin, Flex and others. This open source project also proved to be very active and in a constant growing path. I have been working with JSF + Primefaces since October 2010, when I started developing the project JUG Management, a web application conceived to manage use... (more)

One of the main advantages of using an application server like Glassfish is to keep your application free of complex code, such as 1) manual control of database transactions; 2) database access configuration; 3) security authentication and authorization; 4) sending and receiving e-mail messages, among many other complexities that are non-functional requirements, consuming the time we would be spending on functional requirements. In my opinion, an important differential of Glassfish V3 is its very rich a... (more)

A regular expression is a kind of pattern that can be applied to text (String, in Java). Java provides the java.util.regex package for pattern matching with regular expressions. Java regular expressions are very similar to the Perl programming language and very easy to learn. A regular expression either matches the text ( or a part of it) or it fails to match. If regular expression matches a part of text then we can find it out which one. ** If regular expression in complex, then we can easily f... (more)
