JavaScript Object Notation (JSON) is a technique for passing structured data across processes in the form of a string. This technique results in the ability to pass JSON data across network protocols that prefer string traffic, such as HTTP. (more)

Improve your life Through Science and Art: JSON: JSON Compared to XML

XML is a much older specification and has been used for over a decade. JSON is much newer, requiring a much smaller string to define an object and the data the string contains.   XML was designed to define, organize and contain data. JSON was designed to pass objects from one process to another in the form of a string. (more)

Sometimes you have to fetch some data from the server in JavaScript, JSON is pretty good choice for this task. Let's play with the Employer - Employee - Benefit example from the post JPA Demystified (episode 1) - @OneToMany and @ManyToOne mappings. We will use it inside the web application based on Spring Framework. (more)

I recently figured out this, what I am going to explain you, and it can make a huge impact for an application. I am using struts 2 JSON plugin for an AJAX invocations to action class methods and to send a JSON response. Struts 2 JSON plugin serializes all the bean properties when sending a JSON response to the browser. (more)

ricardozuasti.com - Super simple AJAX for Java apps using JQuery and JSON «

posted by anishaanisha 673 days, 5 hours, 26 minutes ago

Back in April I wrote about Java to/from JSON serialization using XStream. After developing several AJAX applications using PHP and JQuery, I found that for a lot of scenarios a very simple approach is not only easy but very effective. In the case of PHP, you can effectively enable AJAX in your apps using jQuerys $.getJSON() and PHP json_encode(). (more)

Programming Mobile: JSON versus XML: Is JSON Really Better than XML?

posted by anishaanisha 676 days, 3 hours, 32 minutes ago

JSON is a new human readable data format that has become very popular in the last few years, especially in web development. JSON is very similar to XML. They both try to solve the same problem by creating a simple, human readable format for storing data. Up until recently, XML was used for any type of system that needed to send small portions of data quickly without a database attached. (more)

Bozho's tech blog » Replacing a JSON Message Converter With MessagePack

You may be using JSON to transfer data (we were using it in our message queue). While this is good, it has the only benefit of being human-readable. If you don’t care about readability, you’d probably want to use a more efficient serialization mechanism. Multiple options exist: protobuf, MessagePack, protostuff, java serialization. (more)

Andriy Redko {devmind}: JSON for polymorphic Java object serialization

published 693 days, 14 hours, 45 minutes ago posted by anishaanisha 695 days, 5 hours, 16 minutes ago

For a long time now JSON is a de facto standard for all kinds of data serialization between client and server. Among other, its strengths are simplicity and human-readability. But with simplicity comes some limitations, one of them I would like to talk about today: storing and retrieving polymorphic Java objects. (more)

Introduction to Cross-Domain AJAX Whenever I need to load JavaScript application components from the Web server, I usually insert a JavaScript tag in the Web page document and used some "dirty" tricks to execute it. Cross-Domain AJAX uses this approach to implement a cleaner solution wrapped as a jQuery plug-in. (more)

How to convert Java object to / from JSON (Jackson)

posted by anishaanisha 699 days, 9 hours, 6 minutes ago

Jackson is a High-performance JSON processor Java library. In this tutorial, we show you how to use Jackson’s data binding to convert Java object to / from JSON. For object/json conversion, you need to know following two methods ://1. Convert Java object to JSON format ObjectMapper mapper =new ObjectMapper(); mapper.writeValue(newFile("c:\user.json"), user);//2. Convert JSON to Java object ObjectMapper mapper =new ObjectMapper(); User user = mapper.readValue(newFile("c:\user.json"), User.class);Note... (more)

How to convert Java Map to / from JSON (Jackson)

Thursday, August 09, 2012 2:25:43 PM GMT
In last Jackson example, we show you how to convert user define object to / from JSON data. This time, we are doing the same, but replace user define object with Map. Map is more suitable in a simple and short JSON processing, for complex JSON structure, you should always create an user defined object for easy maintainability. In this tutorial, we show you how to use Map to construct the JSON data, write it to file. And also how to read JSON from file, and display each value via Map.1. Write JSON to fi... (more)

Creating JSON document using Java and GSON API

We saw how to parse JSON using GSON API, in this post we would take a look at how the same GSON API can be used to create JSON from the Java objects. Please read this to get an idea of what GSON is. Diving right into the topic of this example, we would make use of the toJson method of com.google.gson.Gson class. One of the overloaded versions of toJson() takes in an source of type Object and the type information which is of class java.lang.reflect.Type. Lets define the model which would hold the data: c... Parsing JSON (comes as a response to a web request) using java

JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) as in definition is a light weight data exchange format, a fat free alternative to XML. In today's post I will show you how to parse JSON (comes as a response to a web request) using java. First download json-lib and add it to your classpath. You'll also have to add following libraries to your classpath commons-lang.jarcommons-beanutils.jarcommons-collections.jarcommons-logging.jarezmorph.jar What you need next is a request url and it's response should be JSON d...
