JAXB Custom Binding - Java.util.Date / Spring 3 Serialization | Loiane Groner

JaxB can handle Java.util.Date serialization, but it expects the following format: “yyyy-MM-ddTHH:mm:ss“. What if you need to format the date object in another format? I had the same issue when I was working with Spring MVc 3 and Jackson JSON Processor, and recently, I faced the same issue working with Spring MVC 3 and JAXB for XML serialization. (more)

JAXB Tutorial

This article is an introductory tutorial for JAXB. Some time back I wrote a tutorial introducing Java StAX and after reading that lot of friends asked to write on JAXB and so this article. JAXB is an acronym of Java Architecture for XML Binding. JAXB provides API to access and process a XML document. We can read or write XML files using JAXB. Unlike SAX, DOM parsers to use JAXB the developer need not be aware of XML parsing techniques. XML Schema Schema is a definition file for a XML document. It main... (more)

JAXBContext Performance Problem

This case study describes the complete root cause analysis and resolution of a performance problem (major slowdown and contention under heavy load) that we faced following a migration our Web Service integration layer from Oracle Weblogic 8.1 Web Service RPC to Oracle Weblogic 11g & JAXB 2.0. This article will also demonstrate how you can generate and analysis JVM Thread Dump snapshots to pinpoint the source of high CPU and IO contention from Java code. Storing and delivering large files (binary data)

The regular way to store configuration is to persist it to database. In my case Hibernate is used for that purpose and the configuration is sent to client computers in XML format that is created by JAXB (Metro implementation) via HTTP.  In this post I describe what are the pros and cons of different ways to persist and to send large files.Persistence: (more)

Building RESTful web services with JAX-RS, JAXB and Groovy

Beyond the fact that I'm going today to share with you, most of the things a developer should know when building a JAX-RS web service with Groovy, this blog post is first and foremost a farewell to the Java language. It was a fun ride but now I think it is high time for me to move on. And how odd and ridiculous is it to build the dynamic parts of my application with a static language? (more)

Using JAXB to generate XML from XSD

published 688 days, 22 hours, 48 minutes ago posted by pankajsharmapankajsharma 689 days, 20 hours, 6 minutes ago

This is a post originally published by Mohamed Sanaulla from Experiences Unlimited, our latest JCG partner. Mohamed explains how to use JAXB to generate XML from a given XSD. (NOTE: The original post has been slightly edited to improve readability) We can use JAXB to marshal the Java objects into XML using the given Schema and vice versa- unmarshal XML into Java objects. The XML schema can be specified in DTD, XSD or other format. (more)

Make your JAXB cleaner with the MOXy implementation

The principle advantage of using JAXB when marshalling and demarshalling XML is the programming model. Simply annotate a few POJOs and use the JAXB API's and you can serialise to XML and deserialise from XML very easily. You don't need to worry about the specifics regarding how the XML is marshalled / unmarshalled. Everything is much simpler than alternatives such as DOM and SAX. (more)

JAXB - Java Architecture for XML Binding JAXB provides fast and easy way to bind Java Objects and XML schemas , making it easy for developers to add XML data and processing functions in Java applications. As part of this process, JAXB provides methods for unmarshalling XML instance documents into Java content trees, and then marshalling Java content trees back into XML instance documents. With JAXB you don't have to deal with or even know XML programming techniques. Moreover, you can take advantage... (more)

This year started on a good note, another one of those "the deadline won't change" / "skip all the red tape" / "Wild West" type of projects in which I got to figure out and implement some functionality using some relatively new libraries and tech for a change, well Spring 3 ain't new but in the Java 5, weblogic 10(.01), Spring 2.5.6 slow corporate kind of world it is all relative. Due to general time constraints I am not including too much "fluff" in this post, just the nitty gritty of creating and s... (more)

Another Double Espresso Please!: JAX-WS, JAXB and Generics

When  JAXB 2.1 came along it introduced a new annotation namely @XmlSeeAlso. It resolved the problem where at runtime, JAX-WS would only know about classes bound by JAXB and not sub classes of those which have been bound. By using @XmlSeeAlso on a class, sub types of the bound class can be listed thereby allowing them to be bound also and therefore reachable by JAX-WS when marshalling and unmarshalling. It can also be used to overcome the problem of using generics in a JAXB annotated class as th... (more)

JAXB Tutorial Java Architecture for XML Binding (JAXB) is a Java standard that defines how Java objects are converted to/from XML (specified using a standard set of mappings. JAXB defines a programmer API for reading and writing Java objects to / from XML documents and a service provider which / from from XML documents allows the selection of the JAXB implementation JAXB applies a lot of defaults thus making reading and writing of XML via Java very easy. The following will explain the JAXB interface, fo... (more)

Castor is an Open Source data binding framework for Java[tm].Castor provides Java-to-XML binding Castor XML can marshal almost any "bean-like" Java Object to and from XML. In most cases the marshalling framework uses a set of ClassDescriptors and FieldDescriptors to describe how an Object should be marshalled and unmarshalled from XML. The mapping rules can be mentioned in xml files which makes it easy for customization. It also has features for java code generation from xml. http://www.cas... (more)
