I work as a committer on Apache Isis. On setting up a new PC, I realised that I’ve forgotten my ASF committer password. I popped over to id.apache.org, but found that the “reset password” button didn’t work, failing with an “Encryption failed” error. (more)

It is quite common in web applications to have “Remember Me” functionality that allows user to be automatically logged in each time when he visits our website. Such feature can be implemented using Spring Security, but in my opinion using request based authentication framework with component based web framework is not the best idea. These two worlds just do not fit well together so I prefer to use my own baked solution which I will present below. (more)

Recently I have got an interesting problem to solve: how to classify text from different sources using automation? Some time ago I read about a project which does this as well as many other text analysis stuff - Apache Mahout. Though it's not a very mature one (current version is 0.4), it's very powerful and scalable. Build on top of another excellent project, Apache Hadoop, it's capable to analyze huge data sets. (more)
